About Me
- Stephanie McDuffie
- Hello I am Stephanie M. Freeman and I have created this to let everyone walk with me through my journey I am taking to accomplish my dream of qualifying for the Boston Marathon.Running is such a passion of mine. When I was 14 years old I experienced a life changing event that gave me this passion. I suffered a brain injury from a car accident that left me in a wheelchair & with no hope to ever walk again. For 2 months of my life I prayed for my miracle, and with strength and determination I proved all my doctors & nurses wrong... I walked again! When I run now a days I let this memory drive me harder than ever to be the best person/runner I can be! So therefore I know this goal of mine WILL happen for me and I will make most sure of it!

Inner Strength...
This thought came to me one morning this weekend in a 5 miler I was running... It is my 2nd week into my marathon training, and I have overcome so many problems to be here. This goal of mine means the world to me and I have had to really focus on the inner strength that I carry inside myself to help get me here today...
To refresh your mememory I suffered a pull in my left calve muscle in Febuary of 2012 and it has been the most painful injury I have ever experienced, and this includes a fracture. Me being the complulsive person I have always been had to deal with depression and an aweful mood for a little while from this. When dealing with an injury your mind tends to play some pretty hard tricks on you.... But I had to realize that I had the strength to dig deep and overcome this just as I had done with alot of other obsticles that had been placed in my path. When I began training for my 1st marathon my coach whom I speak of often Mr. Frank McCleod, told me when I was nervous before any of my races that the strength I learned from my training will come back to me when I needed it. And it always did, so I apply this thinking with running as well as the rest of my life. Of course after dealing with all this injury I am so much stronger and it has actually given me more courage to chase these dreams of mine...
My run went fantastic this morning, I did my weekly long run and I took my mileage to 10 today and it was extremely comfortable. I haven't been able to do any long runs with the ole bummed out leg in over a month. I'd say the last run I've done has been a 15 mile run I did in Perry with Matt right before the Peachtree Road Race. But ultimately it felt good and I was able to do lots of thinking and brainstorming of the coming weeks... I have had a project in my mind lately and I am following through with it next week so I was able to think on the things I need to do for the meeting I have about it next Friday...
